Am I Mom Enough? A Motherhood Wish List
By Kara Baskin, posted on Boston.com
It’s so tempting to get riled up by the Mommy Wars, isn’t it? The Time magazine cover story about extreme parenting, Are You Mom Enough?, featuring a beautiful mother in skinny jeans nursing her preschool-aged son, is infamous by now. It made me, along with the rest of the Internet, explode with righteous indignation. Mom enough? How dare they! This...

Photograpia: Thank You
photograpia:
Thank you For the photographs that lie in frames Or were so carefully placed in our hard drive But particularly for the ones I have in sepia-toned threes. For all the inebriated nights and delivery lunches For teaching me I could love in quite maternal ways With the nagging and the ensuring you have not disappeared (or forgotten your photos). What I have learned with you is not...

Sinulog 2012
Pulled from my photo blog! Late and long post is late and long!
aihshootsstuff:
Sinulog is, hands down, one of my favorite times of the year. I’ve been attending the parade since I learned how to walk and every year, the festivity, color and Cebuano pride never fail to amaze me.
This year, the partying started earlier than usual so it was a great chance to take some wild party photos. It was...

I often forget that tragedy is always just around the corner, and now I think I’d like to go back to when I always just forgot.

Sometimes, just sometimes, I wish
I had a way with words
or a way with pictures
or a way with sounds
that help me help you understand why I
place my hand on my forehead on days
that make me want to forget
or why I shut my eyes
and crease my brow
or why I fall asleep to
wet pillow sides and raging
thoughts like hurricanes
Sometimes I wish
I had a way with things
or a way with...

29 People I Love
Doing a personal photo project to keep my shutter active and my practice moving. Since it’s February (and quite coincidentally, a leap year), I decided to take a photo each day of a person close to my heart. Cheesy, I know, but it’ll be quite meaningful and challenging to me. It’ll at least give me a chance to cherish the moments I spend with the people I find most important.

On Looking Forward: The Invitation
The Invitation by Opriah Mountain Dreamer It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.
It doesn’t interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn’t interest me...

Dear 2011 and 2012,
It’s within these quiet times in between the leftovers of last year and the sunrise of next year that I find myself grazed with thoughts that go over a hundred miles an hour.
With another full year to scathingly scrutinize, it’s not hard to miss the misses. When what you have is one-fourth the person you wish you were, a weight anchors your courage to the bottom...

On Looking Back.
2011 was a rollercoaster and then some. I can’t even begin to express how amazing the past year was.
It was the year that I…
1.) Decided on my path and left MH for Communications (But will always keep my Block in my heart!)
2.) Spent time with incredibly talented, fun and sometimes really strange people. Haha!
3.) Pushed myself to try new things and challenges, like the EB race...

Straight Lines and Splashes
AihShootsStuff:
I finally got off my lazy butt and started doing legit shoots again! This one is an idea I’ve wanted to experiment with for a while now. I’m extremely happy to be able to have it out of the way. :)
I wanted to play with color, lines, curves and of course, a contrast between them.
We played around with a lot of colors and expressions to go with them. I love how...
